General Meeting

Call to order Bill Brannock
Devotions Claudia Multer
Introductions - Everyone introduced themselves. We had excellent attendance with Clermont County and M E Lyons being the only teams not represented.
Two new teams this fall. Hilliker (Bellefontaine) and Coffman (Springboro). Hilliker has sent a letter of intent to participate in some invitationals this year and no championship meets with the intention to join next year. Coffman will be a full participating member. The new teams must present a certificate of insurance and their coaches must be certified in the required courses. In addition they must pay the initiation fee of $50 plus a one-year dues of $25. (Hilliker will pay when they actually join the league)
Voting process -- One staff and one layperson from each team may vote. Toby Boedeker made cards to designate the voting members.
Minutes from the last meeting were sent via email and posted on the web. Minutes unanimously accepted. Roy Davis/Mike Leonard
Treasurer report -- Our balance on hand is $2,426. One team has entry fees outstanding from Long Course. Report accepted unanimously. Sue Slavik/Paul Moke Dave explained that he cannot issue checks without a bill. Those teams who volunteer for awards need to submit a bill to Dave to receive their money. Dave has generated some invoices, which they can use. He will distribute them to the teams that need them.
General information
Senior Meet -
The meet will be held on January 26 at Middletown YMCA. The format will be the same as last year.
Meet information
Meet information for all championship meets and many invitationals will be posted on the web and will not be mailed. The HyTek files will be posted on the web for entries.
Backup your meet
Please send a backup of your meet to Dave Murray and to Claudia. One - the league site is the official site for results and Dave can check for league records. If he does not receive the meet he cannot check. Claudia will check for top 16.
Calendar --
Powel Crosley invitational dates have changed. October 28 for the sprint meet. January 4, 5, 6, for the winter meet. The Countryside meet will also be that weekend. The calendar is on the web site.
High School Classic -
Note that the High School Classic is January 19 & 20, 2002. It is still Martin Luther King weekend.
Qualifying times are for AA, Zone, and Nationals are on the web site.
Meet information
A & AA
1000 free - We are adding the 1000 free to the order of events for the championship meets.
A Championship - We will swim the 1000 free at the A meet. We will not swim the 1650. We will swim the 1000 on Sunday instead of the 1650 at A. If they make the AA qualifying time in the 1000 at the A meet they may also swim the 1650 at AA. Randy Reynolds made the motion with a second by Roy Davis. Unanimously approved. We are juggling numbers so that we will only use one pool at M E Lyons. Countryside will go to Springfield.
AA Championships - We will swim both the 1650 and the 1000 at AA. We will swim the 1000 on Saturday at the end of the morning session. The numbering for the 1000 will still be 119 and 120 at both meets. Tom Schoborg made the motion with a second by Brad Isham. The motion passed unanimously.
Team Awards for A & AA There was a great deal of discussion about awards for A & AA. Several felt that we needed banners or plaques for winners at the A Championships. A motion was made and seconded to give a banner for first place and plaques for second and third at each championship meet. Micky McNeil/Brad Isham The motion was tabled until we decided on how the meet was to be scored.
Scoring - Motion to score only the A swimmers. Those who make AA times will not be scored. Kathy Wright/Paul Moke Unanimously accepted
Awards - Amendment to the motion, which had been tabled, to give 3 awards at each championship meet. Decision left to the executive committee. Amy Fryer/Mark Hucke. The motion passed unanimously.
Zones
Next year's meet will be March 15, 16, 17, 2002 at Carmel, Indiana. The order of events has changed and will be posted on the web. Qualifying times are posted on the web. Swimposium - Bill Whatley Reported that the Swimposium will be held the first weekend of October next year. The plan is to have one coach's clinic making everything available to everyone. Plans are to hold Principles on Friday evening.
Long course -
The Long Course meet went well. The change moving the backstroke events to Sunday made for a pretty good balance. We will add the 800 free next year. Motion to swim the 800 free 15 minutes after the morning session. The fastest heat will swim at night. Tom Janszen/Bill Whatley Unanimous approval. The entire meet needs to be renumbered to reflect the changes. Executive committee recommending that we do not require lap counters for the 400 free. Motion by Tom Janszen second Mark Hucke. Unanimous approval. All events will be seeded with non-conforming times last. Conversions are not always accurate enough to give us a good seeding. Motion Tom Janszen, second Paul Moke. Unanimous approval. Motion to swim the fastest heat of relays for 11 and over at night with finals. This is for Long Course Championships only. Motion Tom Janszen, second Paul Moke. Unanimous approval
Hall of Fame -
In addition to the individual plaques we would like to have a large plaque, which has nameplates of all who have been inducted into the hall of fame. We would pass the plaque around so that it could be displayed at the individual invitationals. It would also be on display at our championship meets. Motion by Mike Leonard, Second Bill Whatley. Unanimous approval.
Athletes Hall of Fame --
Reminder - we need nominations for the hall of fame. One suggestion is to nominate as they graduate and save the names for 5 years. No action taken.
Transferring to another team -
Waiver - all teams have not followed the transfer process. We have revised the transfer slightly and are requiring that a copy of the transfer be sent to the league president. If a swimmer does not complete the transfer process he/she will be ineligible for league championships.
