Due to two decisions made at the 2007 Spring General League meeting, the method of establishing League records has changed. The first decision was to retain the age-up on Dec 1 for entry into age-group events. The second decision was to accept a change to require age-up by the first day of competition for the purpose of establishing League records. Because of these conflicting rules there will no longer be automatic scanning for any League records. All records will now have to be applied for by the team coach, or designated representative, on the official League Record Application form. For the application to be considered it must be made within one month from the last day of the competition.

As an example, a competitor who is considered a 12 year old by the Dec 1 requirement is no longer eligible for a record in the 11-12 age group if they age-up to 13 by the first day of competition. This also applies to relays if any competitor on the relay ages-up before the first day of competition.

However, they may be eligible for a record in the next age group if there is a comparable event, i.e. the 100 Free in both age groups.
